Clinical and Instrumental TMJ Evaluation in Children and Adolescents with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Case—Control Study

To investigate temporomandibular joint (TMJ) involvement signs such as muscle pain, the ratio of masseter and temporal activity, mouth opening width jaw deviation during in children adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), a group 32 subjects JIA control healthy were evaluated. Data collected clinically by palpation (masseters, anterior temporalis sternocleidomastoids) instrumental analysis (electromyography kinesiography). Higher pain was registered sternocleidomastoid muscles on both sides right compared to (p < 0.05). Electromyography showed no statistically significant difference frequency pathological activity (MM/TA 1) group. Kinesiography between groups 0.05): lower values wider opening; 29 out towards side. affects TMJ, causing myalgia head neck muscles, reduction an increase opening.
